How Strange It Is
An original song
Hi friends!
It’s been a wild week with the launch of my new documentary, Mouth of the Wolf on Hulu. If you haven’t seen it yet, please watch! If you have, I would be tremendously grateful if you felt like recommending it on social media, or leaving a rating/review on Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB.
Currently, the expected haters are review-bombing me with things like this:
This kind of thing happens whenever I put out any kind of work, whether that’s amazon reviews for my book or apple reviews for my podcast. I’ve come to expect it, and I try not to let it discourage me. There are many who will never believe in my innocence, and who will do everything in their power to shout down my voice. That’s why I’m so grateful to all of you who value my work. I have plenty of tough days, and knowing that you care truly does help me stand tall in the face of cruelty and dismissiveness.
I’ve been handed a lot of ugliness and pain over the years, but you know what? Manure makes great fertilizer. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to transmute that ugliness and pain into purpose and wisdom and humor and beauty. My latest attempt is an original song, called “How Strange It Is,” which I’d love to share with you.
I wrote and recorded this song for Mouth of the Wolf, and it’s featured in there briefly. Here’s the full song with a lyric video. You can also find it on YouTube.
Credit goes to my husband for co-writing this song with me, and to Josh Karp and Andy Park for collaborating on the music and production. The stunning photo is by Dawndra Budd.
Enjoy! And thank you!

I read your troller’s comment, immediately reminded that there are really are people with nothing better to do. Sad. I really like the song, it’s lovely.
Wow the song was actually really beautiful and very well done. Wish it weren’t so true that the only way out is always through 😆.
